Light wind would definitely be better. I flew in what I had at the time, bu=
t I'm taking some time off from work in the next couple of weeks, and would=
like to try it again.
The one flight I've done so far was with a Didakites 7.5' rokkaku. I've go=
t some other light wind options already in my bag, including a G-Kites Dope=
ro that'll fly in next to nothing. Depending on where I go with this I'd li=
ke to rebuild everything with lightweight in mind. At the moment I'm protot=
yping the mic setup, so everything's made out of 1/2" pine. I can shave a t=
on of weight off of it and fly with a lighter kite once I figure stuff out.
For this I went with a pendulum suspension, thinking I would get less line=
sing from the Picavet lines. Of course I wound up getting the line sing fr=
om the main line instead! I wouldn't mind trying this on a Picavet, just to=
see what it does.
I hadn't thought of going with a disk. That's a darned good idea! If I can=
set the disk up on the rearward arm of the Picavet, it would weathervane i=
nto the wind and not try to steer off.
Yeah, options options options seems to be the name of the game. I'd also l=
ike to make better wind protection for my DIY SASS and fly that as well. Th=
e thing's a bit of a sail, though. Wind buffeting will be a problem.
Thanks for the input!
Tom
