Drew,

I put it to the test with a layer of what we call "clingfilm" over my ears=

and I could hear a difference in the higher KHz frequencies. Off the top of=

my head, a 20 micron film is about the same mass as 22mm of air, which is o=
f
the same order as the HF wavelengths involved.

When I hold a sheet of clingfilm beside a small speaker emitting HF hiss, I=

can clearly hear a reflection from the film. Lower frequencies seem
unaffected.

What it does to my directional mics I will have to test when I get a chance=

 - my rig is dismantled at present.

The other parameter is when the clingfilm is stretched, when it resonates a=
t
lower frequencies which is a different ballgame.
