The most important element for a successful recording is your microphone. T=
his workshop gives a thorough introduction to the complex technology of mic=
rophones in preparation for our annual field recording workshop. Learn abou=
t the different mic mechanisms (dynamic, condensor, electret), powering sch=
emes (phantom, PIP), and directional patterns (omni, cardioid, super-direct=
ional). You will have an opportunity to try different types of microphones =
to determine which is most useful for the kind of recording you want to do.=
 Dan Dugan will teach and the NSS will host the event at Dan's laboratory.=

Breakfast and lunch are provided. RSVP to save your place. $35 Members, $40=
 non-members. Contact Dan Dugan (415) 821-9776 or  <=
