I don't know how many on this list can directly access BBC Radio 4 "Inside
Science", but this edition is fascinating. About 11 minutes in they compare
LF wildlife sounds speeded up or slowed down.

Examples given were a grasshopper slowed down sounding like a hacksaw and a
Blue Whale call at 40 HZ when speeded up sounding like a Gibbon, and
speeding up a gibbon call sounds like a canary.
This was discussing an exhibition in Manchester (England) Museum of Sciencce
and Industry where there is a sound installation "The Sounds of Others" by
the artist Marcus Coates and recordist Jack Sample.

Quote:
"For this work Marcus Coates has studied hundreds of animal sounds to
discover the minute but discernible connections between them. By
stretching and compressing the sounds, resemblances between them appear.
The installation reveals a complex and fascinating world of acoustic
communication and our connection with it."
