Very observant of you, indeed, Klaus... "We need another way of thinking and measuring noise. For example, I find it natural to think that wind power plants should be built near highways and other places which are noise polluted anyway, while most other people think that they should be built at places where there are so few people as possible, which means "silent" areas." Great point. And, yes - it can be done; it is a simple matter of finding the right sponsors, educating the populace on such issues and instating mics in numbers at various locations; this could also become an added responsibility for park rangers and fire watchers, in order to contribute to their existing data sets on wildlife activities etc. This brings to mind the need for permanent, wireless (satellite-solar-powered and water proof mics).
