To answer some of your questions, I think it's probably created for visual =
entertainment, rather than analysis so the focus is probably mostly on maki=
ng it look nice rather than useful for interpretation. Saying that, I'm sur=
e it could be tweaked for analysis and interpretation. My friend who sent m=
e the link is into these visualisations and he says that it's probably a Ma=
x plugin.
