Thanks Dan. I do use that technique, but it doesn't work well with some
species (like loggerhead shrikes) that move far off after mic placement and
don't come back.
There are some Ghillie suits that have paler colors. Whether they'll work
in the situation I'm describing is the question. I took the Cornell
recording workshop in 2012 and I remember Greg Budney describing how Greg Clark
used his Ghillie suit to get some great recordings in the desert, so I'm
hoping he'll weigh in as well.
