I finally got around to putting tape over the little holes near the hinges and
trying them in the wind (and even measured it at 17kmph). Covering the holes
made so much difference that I think I could use them in the wind now. Maybe
not at 30kmph, but they're certainly way better than they were. I now hear the
wind a bit like I normally hear it in my ears, rather than a loud rumble.
Can anyone else confirm this? The gap to fit the tape into is narrow, so it's
hard to quickly remove and replace it for an A/B test, but after it was on I
couldn't get it to rumble badly again.
I'm not sure what function these holes are supposed to perform. Is it possible
that the sound will be affected?

Hi Peter,
Yes, I have that same problem with the MDR7506. They are very loud in the wind,
and make it difficult to discern what is recorded wind rumble while monitoring
in the field. I have posed that issue to this group before, with very little
response. Usually I wear a hoodie sweatshirt as a layer while recording so I
can pull the hood over my headphones - and that helps a bit. I had never before
noticed the little air hole you mention - do you mean the small square hole
under the hinge?
