Hiya Scott,

Just curious - what functionality did SoundSoap have that RX doesn't? I use=
d to have SoundSoap Pro and found it inarticulate to use and just generally=
disappointing in what it achieved. RX has consistently impressed me, allow=
ing me to do things I've struggled to do previously. Plus it seems miraculo=
usly averse to artefacts. And that's not counting in all the other tools in=
the RX suite, spectral repair notably, but the deconstruct module is groun=
d-breaking too. Maybe iZotope is one of the reasons BIAS is out of business=
?? >

This is an old post from last June I had intended to respond to & see that =
I didn't ever get around to doing. There are important differences between =
SoundSoap Pro & Rx that I make use of. Primarily I find the graphic EQ-esqu=
e nature of the SSP GUI to be very fast & intuitive. Although Rx does allow=
shaping the response curve in advanced mode, it is nowhere near as fast as=
realtime auditioning in SSP. SSP also makes auditioning the noise-only sig=
nal much easier. Rx is so CPU intensive that even simple comparisons in rea=
ltime mode between process & bypass are time consuming. Unlike your experie=
nce I find Rx's Denoise module to be about as prone to chirpy flangey artif=
acts as SSP. OTOH I use Rx Spectral Repair all the time on just about every=
project I record now. I'd say any given music album has as much time spent=
in Rx Spectral Repair as is spent in actual mixing. That kind of signal re=
storation has become a major part of my business. Bottom line is I need bot=
h SoundSoap Pro & Rx to do critical audio post production.
