Frank, I missed out one important item - headphones, so you can hear what you are getting. Ideally get the enclosed type with ear muffs which exclude much of the direct sound. I didn't plug my Brinibox, if you are into building things. The prototype was made from a cardboard box with cheap mono mics but gives quite a good stereo image: http://www.stowford.org/sounds/brinibox.htm A comparison with Sennheiser MKH616 mics is on http://www.stowford.org/recordings.htm#stereotest The Brinibox is Rig2.
