I've been trying some extended recordings with my LS-100, but there appears
to be a serious bug with the device (and I'm curious why it apparently is
not showing up for you - or perhaps it is and you just haven't noticed).
In essence, it seems that the mechanism for keeping track of how much
recording time remains gets very confused when the LS-100 starts creating a
new file. In an effort to track it down some more, I removed my own SD card
and let the LS-100 record to its internal memory. I set the record mode to
its highest value (96K, 24 bits) so as to fill up space as quickly as
possible, and set it recording. The initial total recording time was shown
as just over 1H 37M. The time it takes to create a 2GB recording is
1:02:08. At one hour, I started watching the time-remaining indicator, and
as the 2GB point approached, it suddenly jumped to 781 hours(a month!!),
but the LS-100 kept recording.
In fact, it just kept going, and I had to stop it manually. When I checked
the results, the first 2GB file was intact, but the second file appeared to
have been recorded over again and again.
I wonder if you could repeat the test with your LS-100 and see what the
results are?
I've reported the problem and am waiting for a call back from the next
level of Olympus support. I'm a programmer by profession, and this really
smacks of a simple software error due to untested boundary conditions, so
it will be interesting to see what transpires.
