You've embedded the soundcloud thingy on your own webpage, and simply added=
the sonogram underneath. That's a good, simple way to solve the problem, i=
t doesn't matter if the cursor isn't showing on the sonogram itself if it's=
right above it.
To fix the problem of the sonogram being too squashed to see detail, I supp=
ose you could divide the track into shorter sections, and show them one abo=
ve the other with their sonograms in between. Maybe putting it together as =
a soundcloud album would let them play sequentially, although I'd guess the=
re'd be a slight pause between sections.

Audacity is open source and has quite a good sonogram. I don't know
what rights would be involved in using their code.
I generated a sonogram image matching one of my tracks and placed it
under the Soundcloud code. There was too much going on to see a clear
sonogram. It would have to be dynamic and scrolling with the playback.
