I've just put up some short samples of birds (magpies, kookaburras, long-bi= lled corellas) I recorded recently in and around the Grampian mountains, Au= stralia. Another clip is of an insect (or possibly two) that I haven't been able to = identify. They're some variety of cicada I guess. The first is the one in t= he foreground for the duration of the clip, and the second makes its most c= haracteristic sound at about 00:37. It reminds me of some of the background= atmospheres in Picnic at Hanging Rock. Do any Aussies know what these creatures are called? Cheers, Ben http://soundcloud.com/expo58/cicadas |
