I could easily accept that additional distinction.  I caution that creating=
 several categories for manipulated sound as there's many ways one can do s=
o and for many reasons. One can argue that adding coconut shell horse footf=
alls is different than overdubbing real horse footfalls, and adding horse f=
ootfalls from a sound effects collection is different than adding horse foo=
tfalls that were really recorded at the same location but not at exactly at=
 the same time. So sometime global is better.
On Foley artists, a possibly apocryphal story: On Monday the Foley artist f=
or a weekly radio show in the 1940's read the audio cue "the sound of sunsh=
ine dancing through the window." Everyone on staff wondered all week how he=
 could to fulfill this impossible audio cue. Always recorded live, the mome=
nt arrived. The Foley artist lifted up a tiny set of crystal wind chimes an=
d gently tapped them with a metal rod....
