Subject: [Nature Recordists] Software for Extracting Audio Data from Record=
ed Files (Not Using Raven)
Hello,
This past summer, I made a number of insect recordings using a Rode
NTG2 shotgun condenser microphone, a FEL communications amplifier, and
a Zoom H4n.
I would like to analyze these recordings for a variety of parameters,
including max/min frequency, power, and RMS amplitude.
I am aware that the Raven pro software available from Cornell can
extract these data from the files. As a graduate student, however, I
do not have $100 to sacrifice per year for a license to use their
software. If it were a one-time price, I would likely purchase the
software.
Does anyone have experience with other free (or less expensive) audio
programs that perform similar functionality? My workstation is a
dual-boot Linux/Windows, so I have access to both operating systems.
I am familiar with Audacity, but do not believe this has the
capability I am looking for, though I could be happily mistaken.
Thanks for any help,
Robert
