Further to this thread of a couple months ago, I recently returned from two=
weeks in Tanzania. We have travelled quite a bit in Africa, but this was m=
y first time with sound recording gear along.
I did a bit of recording during the day, but it mostly took a backseat to p=
hotography in the daylight hours. At night, however, I had good results (by=
my beginner's standards, anyway) simply by clamping the microphone to a ra=
iling or deck chair outside the tent, and running a cable back to the recor=
der beside the bed.
I'm a bit hesitant about posting recordings given all the expertise in this=
group, but if anyone is interested in the kind of material that came from =
this approach, I've put some short recordings on the web at the link below.
