hello everyone,
I'm quite new here. I've been reading with interest about the Shure MX391 m=
ics. I took the plunge and ordered 2. They arrive here in UK surprisingly f=
ast and I got them wired up for my minidisc recorder in a jiffy and went st=
raight out to give them a try out.
First, they are the quietest mics I've owned so far.
In my haste to get out and try them I used a very crude dummy head arrangem=
ent using a Cannon S35 loudspeaker as the head with my wooly bob hat over i=
t and with the mics simply tucked into the turnup of the bob hat. I also tu=
cked a strip of faux fur into the turnup over both mics.
My enthusiasm for outdoor recording isn't based on any great specialist kno=
wledge about animal species etc so I only THINK I've recorded a family of O=
wls.
Feel free to put me right if you think I've got it wrong. Any other helpful=
comments are welcome also.
Here's the Soundcloud link ( I've just opened an account there tonight ):

There's a lot of noises-off and I haven't altered any of the frequency bala=
nce yet.
Best wishes to you all,
norman.
