Greetings to all!
Finally the website is streaming the nature sounds outside my house in a =
residential area by a lake that has a good variety of birds that come and g=
o. The best time to listen is 5:30 to 7:30AM GMT-6. Please excuse the noi=
sy neighbors. Most of the time it is quite by the house.
Once things are stable, I will move the microphone array internet applian=
ce to a better location. For now only a 64kbps stereo stream is online. I=
have on order a second Audio-Technica BP4025 microphone that is delayed be=
cause of the earthquake. Once I have that, I will be testing with 128kbps =
surround stream.
If you are a Linux user, you can go to the site and start streaming with =
the Linux default media player. For Windows users, the website below provi=
des links for Windows Media Player 11 and a Vorbis plug-in that allows WMP =
to process the Ogg stream I am generating.
I realize that the quality of the stream is low. This is my first try a =
streaming live audio. The internet can handle higher speeds, but most peop=
le have economical connects that are not very fast thus can cause drop outs=
in faster streams. If others in this group are streaming nature audio at =
greater then 64kbps, please let me know how you do it.
The streaming server can currently handle 25 listeners. Not knowing how =
many people are interested in listening, I started with the entry level of =
listeners and will increase if many people continue to listen. The interne=
t appliance is streaming 24X7 but as you all know, some times are better th=
en others for listening to nature. So come back at different times to hear=
the different phases of the day from Austin in a nature audio way.

Let me know if you were able to connect. I welcome all feedback.
