dear all,
when it was released, the SD USBPre 2 was not usable in Windows at samples higher than 48k. Now, the new ASIO drivers released by SoundDevices also provide WDM compatibility and can be used by any WDM compliant software at any of the sampling rates supported by the USBPre (tested on Windows 7 64 bit, not tested yet on XP).
Of course, any feedback from other users is welcome! In my very preliminary tests at 192k I can say that the USBPre has a flat frequency extension up to 90kHz with an a-a filter not very sharp but enough for most bioacoustic needs. The preamplifier noise is very low and the increase of the noise floor above 50-60 kHz is much lower than other devices.
Here some preliminary measures of aliasing.... INPUT at 0dB ALIAS 102kHz -10dB at 90kHz 112kHz -27dB at 80kHz
122kHz -55dB at 70kHz More accurate tests will follow, including the EMU TrackerPre. Results will be published soon on our website at http://www.unipv.it/cibra/res_techtest_uk.html
Gianni
