They are intended for mobile video recording as they give a good mono signal and provide the requirement of stereo in one mic body, but the mono is narrow and the stereo is virtually 360 degrees which is not good news for field recording. What happens with TV video shooting is that the S signal is usually faded down in practice. The majority of the sound is out of phase and the stereo image placement is poor. It will work well in a controlled situation such as a studio, but may be a disappointment outdoors with "surround noise".
