Dear all,

This message is addressed to the sound professionals on the group.

A former colleague and friend of mine is leading a project in which he hopes to
incorporate installations projecting natural soundscapes from specific habitats
of the world. The project will be long-term botanical displays depicting
different habitat types (humid and dry tropics, temperate habitats,
mediterranean vegetation, cloud forests etc). The displays will cover the
vegetation types from different parts of the world (eg cloud forests of both
Asia and Latin America, mediterranean from both northern and southern
hemispheres etc)and so will need to incorporate a pretty comprehensive
collection of soundscapes which could be changed perhaps daily or weekly in
some kind of rotation (details to be determined as part of the project).

He has asked my advice on who could undertake the identification and
installation of the appropriate hardware and also provide the appropriate
sounds and required software. The project is large, ambitious, well-funded and
based in SE Asia. I have no commercial engagement or interest in the project,
only providing friendly advice and contacts.

If you are interested in being considered for the sound installation, or know
of someone else who should be approached, please contact me off-line (not to
the group) providing me with your contact details. I will then connect you to
the project leader who will take it from there. I would imagine that you would
then be provided with further technical information and be invited to bid for
the project as that is how they normally work. The successful bid would go to
someone who has a proven track record of such work and the skills to provide
both the hardware and software components and willingness to visit SE Asia.

Thanks for your interest.

Chris
