Hello, in most countries, people welcome the new year with fireworks. In different cultures it has different traditional backgrounds, who even found their way into the phonography community as recordings. Like many other people, I wonder what this tradition has for implications for the birds, living in our backyards, parks or buildings. In my backyard I had installed a few nestboxes for smaller songbirds. In winter, some of them are trying to beware of coldness inside those. The following recording is made inside in one of these nestboxes with DPA 4061 mics at 31th december 2010, 23:52:30h. http://soundcloud.com/biophonie_info/10-12-31-new-years-eve-inside-a-nestin= g-box I wish you a happy new year, Patrick |
