I was hesitating between a _Passer sp._ and some fringillid (remotely
reminded me of crossbill calls).

I asked on a French twitcher list.
The consensus was that it's atypical calls of Greenfinch _Carduelis
chloris_, probably young ones.
When you say "spring", are you meaning end of March, mid-June or
something in between? ;-)
