Hi Martyn,
No, the sound in question wasn't the whaaa sound lasting around 3 seconds, it
was more the lower frequency clucking sound. I finally found the ID thanks to
the Western Soundscape Archive. It is a Plains Leopard Frog. By the way, the
Fowler's Toad is found generally East of Texas, which is a sub species of the
Woodhouse Toad. The Woodhouse Toad is found in the plains. The Great Plains
Narrow-mouthed Toad sounds somewhat similar to the Woodhouse Toad, and is also
in the sample.
