Hi Folks,

I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of the XLR to USB Microphone C=
able products out there? I've just been thinking about trying one of these =
set-ups, to record directly to my laptop.
For wildlife sound recording, of course. The 2 products I've been looking a=
t mostly, are the Lightsnake XLR to USB Microphone Cable and the Blue Icicl=
e XLR to USB Converter.
After reading a bunch of reviews, etc. It seems that The Lightsnake cable h=
as a better build quality. With The Icicle unit, there have been some issue=
s with the early serial # units, and many people complain of very flimsy/ch=
eap build quality.
In any case, I currently have a "low-budget" mono shotgun mic that I was th=
inking of using with one of these things...
At the same time, I got to thinking: What about using a good mic directly t=
o a laptop? Like a Rode NTG-2? What kind of interface would one use to matc=
h the quality of something like an NTG-2? I presume it would be something a=
lot more expensive than these low-cost cables?

Thanks & best regards,
-Al
