Sadly it's not just Cyprus, all across Europe it seems birds of all sorts are 
fair game.

The mainland European male seems to think blasting a bird with a 12-bore 
somehow 
attests to his masculinity apparently!?

So not only do the birds have to contend with habitat destruction in both their 
breeding and wintering areas but they are blasted at, trapped and caught in 
nets 
during their migration.

It's a wonder that any make it north to breed.
