Thanks for that ng, I wasn't sure about NTG-1/2's but I'm beginning to warm to 
them. In the main I'd use those for 'ambient' sound I think form what I have 
read plus it would standardize the mic's on all cameras, something the factory 
fitted ones are not.

FYI, both prime cameras have phantom supplies so the NTG-1 looks like the 
winner.

Regarding a more directional mic, I was thinking the Sennheiser K6 with the 
ME66 or ME67 module?
