Well not really, Its doomed to fail at some unknown point in the future jus=
t when you need it the most... Except it hasn't yet... I keep trying to bre=
ak it.
Plan A - head to the local forrest, record the approaching rain.
The forrest was rather nice, but full of mosquitos. Car traffic from the lo=
cal motorway also sounds far louder, perhaps being funneled down the river =
to the exact spot I'd chosen...
Heres the recording from Plan B, "Sling it in the hedge"
http://soundcloud.com/urlme/pipmics-rainbar-hedge-noeq
No blimp, no covers just the bare mic "bar" - during the recording its poss=
ible to hear direct raindrops landing on the mic.
The recording has no equalization and represents the native sound of the mi=
c. Editing has been used removing and joining sections with fades between t=
raffic noise & passing planes.
Location: Finland, 1-2am.
Recorder: Sony D50, Gain Level 3. 24Bit / 48 Khz.
Ambient: Around 30 dBA/slow after the rain.
Enjoy.
Kind Regards,
Mike.
Amazing what you can do with electrets and plug in power these days.
