The recently introduced TASCAM DR-08
(http://www.tascam.com/products/dr-08.html) provides a TIMER function that
might be useful for automated sound recording in the field.
Unfortunately, it turned out that there is still a bug in the initial firmware
version 1.00, which prevents a reliable timer-controlled operation (sometimes
it just does not record at the programmed time). According to the TASCAM
support team in Germany, the bug should be fixed by the next firmware update.
