I suppose you could call that location a bit of a=C2=A0sweet spot. There is=
the lake, and at one end a marsh with low shrubs and on either side of the=
lake forest with quickly rising hills. I wanted to capture a bit of everyt=
hing so placed the mic not close enough to the frogs that they would drown =
everything else out but somewhere where the fish jumping would be slightly=
=C2=A0'louder' than the frogs. It seemed to work well. For any of you wonde=
ring, it was 7 Canada Geese that flew over the microphone. My daughter (she=
is 13) and I thought it was a jet coming to ruin the recording, but it was=
7 feathery jets! About 3 minutes later a real jet went over.. that ended i=
t. The soundscape of the place has changed though, there used to be a real =
lovely echo there but the clear cutters cut down a half of one side leaving=
a barrier of trees around that part of the lake, certainly changing the bi=
rd population too.
