hi

i'm looking for recordings from some rather specific locations and
wondered if anyone might be able to help. they are for a project at
the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham, UK involving people's
thoughts about, memories of and interactions with their local
soundscape. the main location is one that's traditionally the
immigrant reception area. today it's predominantly asian and
afrocaribbean but there's an incredible ethnic diversity. amongst
other things i have been asking about similarities and differences in
the sounds Birmingham and their original countries. the replies are
fascinating.

obviously it's possible for me to record in Birmingham but hints
dropped to the organisers about travelling to collects sounds from 20
world locations have fallen on stony ground. nevertheless i would
like to get hold of some recordings if at all possible. the list is:

Chile
Santiago - city soundscapes
Temperate rain forest atmosphere from the south of the country

Jamaica
Kingston - city soundscapes
Car travelling along dirt road
Waves on a sandy beach preferably with minimal human sounds

Congo and Angola
city atmos
rural village atmos
forest atmos
bus ride (interior) in one of these countries
warfare sounds from eastern Congo

Bangladesh (preferably Sylhet province or nearby) or failing that
West Bengal, India
nighttime vibrancy - frogs, insects
morning ducks/cockrel,
general village atmos/conversation daytime and evening (TV in background)
crows common to the area, indian fish eagles

Punjab
village atmos
village music

Vietnam
village in Mekong delta area - preferably early morning with cockrels
and village waking
Saigon or other city atmos

if there anyone has any these recordings i'd be very grateful. please
contact me off list. 2 or 3 minutes is the length i'm looking for.
reasonable quality mp3s would be fine.

many thanks

peter
