Last week Jeff Rice and I recorded at the Lytle Ranch Preserve in southwestern
Utah. A sample of my recordings is posted at www.7loons.com or on my
"Soundscapes for Birders" podcast at the iTunes Store.
The Preserve is an oasis in the Mohave desert. Away from the riparian area the
nature sounds were very, very quiet. I did get a few hours of wind howling in
the Joshua trees but there were no birds singing away from the wash.
