Sandhill Cranes have a predictable morning routine. They wake, they play, t=
hey dance and=A0as the sun gains strength they fly out to the fields to eat=
. Our 15 min. video, Pink Light Dawn, documents a typical morning featuring=
highly atypical pink light. The soundtrack was recorded with a Telinga DAT=
Stereo Parabolic to a Sony D-50 over 8 pre-dawn treks and mixed. The locat=
ion (Lost Slough, Cosumnes River Preserve in California) is less than 1/2 m=
ile east=A0from a major freeway (I-5). The audio was recorded at another po=
nd about 1 mile=A0east of=A0the freeway with the mic pointing southeast. No=
ne of the sounds recorded live with the video were usable. Thanks to the gr=
oup (Dan) for the inspiration and technical info that made this possible.
