I noticed my last update here on xeno-canto was more than a year ago. A lot has
happened in the mean time.
Some highlights: xeno-canto has gone global, supports sounds on Google Earth
(not as fancy as Bernie Krauses effort a while back, but still..), supports xml
export of data, introduced "features" where blogs/articles/notes can be
published/kept with "live" sounds and maps. Some stats: 400+ recordists, 40000+
recordings, 6300+ bird species represented.
Perhaps it is best to check it out for yourself: www.xeno-canto.org . There are
many ways in which naturerecordists members could contribute to the site (e.g.
by sharing sounds or knowledge) and you are more than welcome to do so!
All the best,
Willem-Pier
