I suppose you've also looked at the Tellinga parabolics as well? Fiberglass reflectors aren't actually too hard to make yourself, assuming you have a decent form to shape them. Or you could always borrow a small satellite dish from a neighbor... And as for writing letters, I find it quite refreshing sometimes. Kind a denial of the immediate gratification we think the internet should provide us with ;-) best! D.
