The new Olympus LS-11 recorder will appear in about a month, by mid-Septemb=
er.  A few web sites are advertising the LS-11 now, price $360.  That's dow=
n from Olympus's suggested price of $400.  I expect that discounts to $300 =
will be available after the recorder is released.

The LS-11 is an updated version of the LS-10.  Changes include 8GB of built=
-in flash memory (up from 2GB in the LS-10), a reported 23 hours of record =
time from two AA cells (up from 12 hours), the ability to add track marks d=
uring recording (not available in LS-10), compatible with 32 GB SDHC cards =
(LS-10 only 8 GB?), and a few other minor differences.

These are useful changes.  However, it's not known if the LS-11 offers any =
improvements in recording quality.  The quality may be identical to the LS-=

Olympus says the LS-10 will continue to be sold.  Compuplus.com is offering=
 the LS-10 for $200 this morning.
