<<what about using the oktava MK-012 for nature recording ??
anybody has used it??>>
The quality control of the Oktava MK012 is all over the map. The cheap
ones available at Guitar Centers are an absolute crapshoot as to what
you will get. There is somebody (The Mic Room?) who hand selects those
which meet spec & charges accordingly. The MK012 I tried in a studio
recording session was simply awful, lacking focus, clarity, extension
at both ends of the spectrum. Possibly useful as a paperweight, but
junk for any audio application. It was promptly replaced with a
Neumann & the session proceeded. That said, the hand picked Oktavas
really do meet their intended specifications, so the extra charge is
justified. If you do decide to try these for nature recording, be sure
they are truly a matched pair & have been hand selected for quality
assurance.
