We went into the field again yesterday AM and found the same pop and  
click issue with the same
device that introduced it a few weeks ago. While I believe now that  
the problem is internal, the pops are not equal level across both  
channels. I. e. one channel contains a "click" at a higher level than  
the other. So it's probably not the (internal) mics.

Also, yesterday, we got  a serious sampling error (loud electronic  
noise overload across both channels) that lasted about 2 seconds. This  
is all very curious. Olympus tech support has offered to change out  
the unit so we hope that will eliminate the problem. Stay tuned...
