As many of you are aware, Doug Oade performs upgrades on digital
recording equipment to improve results. Doug's customers are
primarily concert tapers, but he has upgrades more suited to nature
recording as well.
Recently, Oade Brothers announced upgrade programs for two new
recorder models. Oade is now modifying the Marantz PMD620 "point and
shoot" recorder. The "Basic" upgrade costs $449, including the recorder.

And Oade offers a modified version of the new Edirol R-44 four channel
recorder. The "Concert" upgrade costs $915, including the R-44. A
"Basic" upgrade is planned, more suited to recording of ambient sound,
and will likely be less expensive.

Oade will only work on gear you purchase from their store. I'm not
sure if Oade will ship to addresses outside USA.
I have no connection with Oade Brothers other than as a satisfied
customer. I bought an Oade-modified Marantz PMD660. The upgrade made
an audible improvement in the PMD660's self-noise.
