Leonard Lombardo has added another review to his web pages. This time
the subject is the new Edirol R-09HR.
http://www.sonicstudios.com/r09hrrev.htm
The R-09HR is the third pocket-size recorder from Edirol (R-1, R-09,
and now R-09HR). The HR stands for "high resolution," a reference to
the addition of 24/96 digitization in the R-09HR model.
The R-09 suffered from a manufacturing defect. The 3.5mm input jacks
and headphones jack were poorly soldered to the circuit board inside
the recorder. The R-09HR uses a more sturdy method of attaching the
jacks.
The R-09HR's power consumption is typical of small recorders today.
Two AA cells power the recorder for 4 to 5 hours' worth of WAV file
recording. Similar results are posted by recorders like the M-Audio
Microtrack II, Marantz PMD620 and Zoom H2. This makes the Olympus
LS-10's ability to record 10+ hours on 2 AAs all the more remarkable.
