Thanks Oryoki!

Leonard acknowledges that his review does not attempt to fully assess
preamp noise performance but he does have far more concrete to say
about it than the other reviews. He suggests using an ($450.00 USD)
external pre for critical recordings. (Not sure this is comprehensive
advice when a Fostex FR2-LE costs only $200 more).

It's possible that there could be significant improvement in the
LS-10's noise performance when using an external phantom unit like an
Art Phantom II or Rolls PB224 with the "PIP" turned OFF in the LS-10.

I learned more from Raimund's, Vicki's and Debbies' tests than from
these reviews:

The reviewer supplies one recording made with the external mic pre
but he does not state what mic was used,...

Used a dynamic mic and a condenser mic with 21 dB(A) self noise to
test pre performance as I recall,.. Not a useful reference or good
test method for nature recording applications.

Impressive layout in "samples" section but none of the samples are
far field and high gain. I couldn't find what mics are used. Rob D.
