Thanks Oryoki! The "2GB and stop" limitation effectively stopped my
interest in the LS-10-- a mistake which Sony partially avoided.
Sony's limit of 4GB affords a ~6 hour take at 16bits/48K.

I'm less concerned about a few ounces and less interested in internal
mics than many recordists are, so I'd still include the Fostex FR2-LE
on my list of good quality, low-cost recorders. The advantage list
for the Fostex includes noise performance rivaling the best recorders
and phantom powering-- hard features to pass up.  The FR2-LE also
limits recording duration to 4GB-- not by max card size, like the
D50, but programming short-comings like the LS-10. Does anyone know
if the Fostex FR2 can close out 2GB or 4GB files and keep writing?
The manual is sketchy on this.  Rob D.
