Many thanks to Rob Danielson and Philip Tyler I first went I Phil's way and made a 5pin XLR to two 1/4 jacks - but then the signal levels were abysmally low on the the Zoom H4. Then I tried Rob's way with 5pin to two 3pin XLRs (Thanks to Umashankar for the connectors and cables). Here Ground, 1, 3 and 5 were shorted at the 5pin XLR side (it is the same in the original cable that came with the mic) and at the 3pin XLR end G, 1 and 3 were shorted. In this setup too the signal levels are low; so low even when gain is set at 'High' there is'nt enough signal. So now, Message: 1. Subject: Is there a problem with wiring? Message: 2. Subject: Is it just that ECM957 is low output mic? or Message: 3. Subject: ECM957 is not compatible with Zoom H4? Otherwise the same mic does a decent job with my minidisc MZ-R37. Thanks once again for all the help. Gopi |
