I fear the quality will be already poor due to the limitations of the 
cassette format.  Assuming the A/D stage is half-decent, then it won't 
make things detectably worse.

If I were transfering cassettes to digital, I'd try and find the best 
cassette deck I could get ahold of, and simply use a separate audio 
interface.
