Sound Devices used to be part of Shure then they
became a separate company but are distributed by
Shure.
I am pretty certain that the FP24 and Mixpre are one
of the same. They both have that 'tell-tail' battery
compartment which seems to be a hallmark of Sound
Devices equipment.
Looking at a picture of the FP24 it looks
indistinguishable from my own Mixpre, other than the
FP24 has Shure on it.
