Sennheiser K6 modular

I am curious to know if there is any loss in sound quality with these
modular mics or any other modular systems out there compared to a self
contained mic....I suppose it would be difficult to measure. Anyone
have a theory on this?
I have a 62/66/67 and up until reading of the favorable reviews of the
AT3032 I was about to buy a second 62 and 66 but also considering the
AT3032 now.
Also I read a very interesting article on stereo recording in SOS mag
about a technique referred to as the 'decca tree' using 3 omnis which
has me interested to try. I have always been impressed with Decca's
recordings of the piano which I have felt were superior to other
labels so I would be interested to try this technique.
