There's an interesting item on birdsong on Radio New Zealand's Our Changing=
 World =96 Audio

It was produced by the ABC.

Some of it sounds familiar, though I can't remember where else I might have=
 heard another
version of it.

Incidentally, Radio New Zealand National also plays the song of a native bi=
rd everyday during
the main morning news programme (the equivalent of Morning Edition or Today=
) as the pre-
fade to the hour, including a voice identifying the bird in Maori and Engli=
sh. That's nice!
