Hey RD, I'm of the opinion that even if you don't need permission, it's considerate and in good form to ask. Usually the recordist is flattered (as I would be) that someone is interested in my efforts. You should make it clear to the recordist in what context you are using the recording: commercial, personal, educational, etc. I typically use a Creative Commons license for my recordings and sounds. It gives me the ability to communicate my intended use. For more information see <http://creativecommons.org> I typically use a 3.0 license |
