Before Lithium batteries I carried block NICAD batteries not too much small=
er than those for motorcycles. I was stopped all the time. Good thing, I th=
ink. I would not like to be on a plane with someone carrying stuff like tha=
t who was not challenged.
Now I put my tripod head in my carry-on (it's heavy and I can often sneak p=
ast the overweight charges) and I'm always stopped when they see it on the =
X-ray. Good thing, I think.
I was in Africa a few years ago and  nothing was checked. They ran our bagg=
age through the machine backwards. No matter it wasn't working. Air France =
was worried enough about the lack of security that the crew on the plane in=
sisted everything be dumped on the tarmac and checked again, by them.
