Thanks for the great review, Oriyoki! As a Sound Devices user, I've been looking for the appropriate low cost casual recorder and you have convinced me that the H2 is the one with the best price/features combo. Since the SD will not make WAV and MP3 at the same time, the H2 would allow previewing the recording, say while driving home, or whatever... Only unanswered question is, since it takes so long to start up, how long can you be powered on and still have battery left to record a few hours? Kind of like a cell phone's standby vs talk time, I guess. Not a big deal I'm sure. The saving the file at end of battery life is one winning feature I have not heard of on anything except the SD 7xx series.
